The Team

Kevin G. Barrow

Kevin G. Barrow

Before founding Mark Labs in 2015, Kevin worked in management consulting at Deloitte, law at GE Capital (focusing on complex, multi-jurisdictional mergers and acquisitions), and banking at ABN AMRO on the ethical investing team. Kevin pursued his higher education in the United Kingdom where he earned an Honors Law degree from Durham, focusing on human rights, public international law, and jurisprudence. He later returned to school to earn his MBA from Oxford where he focused on business and finance as tools for social transformation. Kevin has traveled extensively to countries as varied as India, where he worked with the Sisters of Charity, Egypt, where he studied classical Arabic, and Russia, where he completed a program in intercultural studies.
Katherina Bouman

Katherina Bouman

Katherina turns our vision into reality as she leads our product development team. Mark Labs benefits immensely from Katherina’s ability to link her technical expertise with creative thinking in order to turn our ambitious goals into innovation. Katherina joined Mark Labs from Tykn, where she used blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies to build digital forms of authentication and identity verification. Katherina earned an Honors B.S. at Amsterdam University College in Computer Science and Mathematics. She is nearing the completion of a M.S. in Systems Engineering at the Technical University Delft.
Evan Yap

Evan Yap

Evan plays an integral role in managing, conducting, and implementing the research that goes into our products. Evan puts forth an ambitious yet feasible vision for the company, and he oversees our operational strategy. His expertise in technical innovation, impact assessment, and strategic management helps us turn vision into reality. Prior to joining Mark Labs, Evan led the research team at Tykn, a company that uses blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies to build digital forms of authentication and identity verification. Evan holds a B.A. in Public Administration and Policy and a M.A. in Economics and Strategic Management.
Brian Kouassi

Brian Kouassi

Brian brings expertise in strategic management and business operations in order to help Mark Labs realize its company and product vision. Brian is responsible for engaging our clients and managing the company’s external relations. Brian also contributes to the research team, applying his management consulting background in audit and financial advisory. Brian also has experience in government and international trade policy, as he has worked for the United States Chamber of Commerce in several roles. Brian holds a B.A. in Global Affairs with a concentration in International Development from George Mason University.
Jashan Gupta

Jashan Gupta

Jashan is primarily responsible for the front-end development of Mark Labs’ products. His primary responsibility is to research and design the client-facing portion of our product. This involves determining how to incorporate user input, as well as deciding how to effectively portray the results of the impact assessment. He works closely with the engineering team to ensure that our product communicates its insights clearly and completely in a pixel-perfect user interface. Jashan holds a Bachelor’s of Technology in Civil Engineering from PEC University of Technology in India and a M.S. in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Maryland.
Rohan Deo

Rohan Deo

Rohan is Mark Labs’ lead software developer and is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining software in the product development team. Rohan is currently developing various web-scraping techniques and machine learning algorithms, two key pieces of our data collection and analysis processes. Rohan holds a B.S. in Information Technology at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology and a M.S. in Telecommunications at the University of Maryland. Rohan’s expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and Python programming are instrumental in turning our product vision into reality. Before joining Mark Labs, Rohan worked as an Artificial Intelligence Engineer at Reality AI.
Stephen Moul

Stephen Moul

Stephen brings a quantitative background in applied economics, econometrics and finance to the research team at Mark Labs. He also brings expertise in macroeconomics and policy analysis. He is responsible for the coordination of our research efforts and project management, which in turn provide the framework for our products. Stephen is nearing the completion of an Advanced M.S. in International Relations and Diplomacy at Leiden University in the Netherlands, but he is originally from Canada, where he earned his B.S. in Economics with a Finance option and a minor in Business.
Saajid Sahabdeen

Saajid Sahabdeen

Saajid brings a thorough understanding of impact measurement and materiality assessment to the team. Saajid leads various research projects ranging from the analysis of corporate sustainability to the development of Mark Labs’ materiality assessment. His main responsibilities include conducting research for the product methodology and optimizing product development to suit the needs of our clients. Before joining Mark Labs, Saajid worked in the Sales & Trading division at Goldman Sachs as well as in Wealth Management and Securities at Deutsche Bank. Saajid has an extensive educational background, including both a Master’s Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering and an MBA from Imperial College, London.
Omar Ashgar

Omar Ashgar

Omar brings over ten years of accounting and finance experience within the financial services and information technology industries to our team at Mark Labs. Through his various roles, Omar has developed a keen understanding of financial management. His expertise in financial and tax reporting, financial planning, and budgeting help him succeed in his role. Omar holds a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and a MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Omar is also a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in the state of Virginia.
Galen Lewis

Galen Lewis

Galen brings a strong background in economics, investment research, and financial analysis to the Mark Labs team. Galen conducts market research with the goal of identifying the best ways to address current gaps in the market for ESG data. He then works with the research team to help ensure that our product methodology fills the gaps left by many of our competitors. Finally, he distills key findings from the research team into presentations and reports for clients and investors. Galen is working toward a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University, with secondary degrees in Energy & Environment and Psychology. Galen is also an NCAA Division I athlete on the Harvard Men’s Soccer team.
Oskar Nilsson

Oskar Nilsson

Oskar bridges our business development and product teams as he brings a unique combination of technical expertise in engineering and work experience in the realms of business development and sales. Oskar’s educational background in Environmental Science and Engineering makes him a key point of contact for clients who focus on low-carbon economies and sustainability. He also applies his knowledge of Python programming to assist our lead software developers. Finally, Oskar communicates the product team’s challenges to the research team in order to align research projects with the needs of the product. Oskar studies Mechanical Engineering at Harvard University, with a secondary degree in Energy and Environment. Oskar is also a Division 1 college soccer player on the Harvard Men’s Soccer team.
Ted Northup

Ted Northup

Ted brings to Mark Labs a combination of systems engineering thinking, computer science applications, and prior experience in business development. Entering his senior year at Dartmouth College, he is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Engineering in both Mechanical and Computer Engineering concentrations. With his analytical background, developed programming skills, and coursework emphasis in project development, Ted is positioned to contribute to the planning and implementation of Mark Labs’ products. At school, Ted is heavily involved in his college’s emergency medical service and the Dartmouth Outing Club.
Spencer Franklin

Spencer Franklin

Spencer brings a strong background in statistics and applied quantitative finance to the Mark Labs team. His expertise when it comes to analyzing financial and non-financial data aids in the development of a quantitative, data-driven impact assessment as Spencer has a deep understanding of the dynamic between ESG and long-term value creation. He serves as the irreplaceable link between our research and product development teams as he conducts research for the product’s methodology and design and subsequently reports findings to the product team for implementation. Spencer worked as an investment banking analyst before joining Mark Labs and holds a B.A. in Economics and a M.S. in Quantitative Finance from the University of Maryland.
